The third episode of American Horror Story Hotel: Hotel — “Mommy” — explored, among many things, mommy-issues, and a bit more of the back story surrounding Lady Gaga’s Countess. We learn how she lost her money, about her relationship with Angela Bassett‘s Ramona Royale (a former B-movie star turned vampire by The Countess), and what she really cares about — the Nintendo-playing, jelly-bean eating, lavender-scented children she keeps locked away in the hotel.

Here are Gaga’s best lines from “Mommy”:

When Will Drake (Cheyenne Jackson) inform the Countess that he’s gay:
“I’m not stupid. We’re destined for something much more intimate.”

While seducing Will:
“You need to burn, so you can rise from the ashes.”

To Drake:
“All great ideas are deadly.”

Before leaving Drake with unfinished business:
“I’ll call you later and by the way, you’re hard.”

After explaining that Bernie Madoff took all of her money:
“Will Drake can’t die until after I marry him and take every goddamn penny.”

Bonus: Her first appearance, with a silent, shake of her head no when Tristan (Finn Wintrock) went in for the kill on Will.

For more on the episode, read The Hollywood Reporter’s interview with Matt Bomer, who plays The Countess’ scorned ex-lover Donovan.
