Marks & Spencer announced that total sales of the Group, excluding tax and at constant exchange basis, increased by 1.8% for the 13 weeks completed in late June.
In the UK, sales rose by 1.9% in the first quarter, while the Like-for-like sales remained unchanged over the same period.
Exceptional were online sales, which rose by 38.7% over the period concerned. According to what the chief executive of the chain stores, Marc Bolland said … “continues to progress on our top priorities. Food businesses performed well, while those of general merchandise were about the same as last year. Pretty strong was the performance the M & S.com, with consumers appreciate the improvements we made. ”
