The decision to restrict the number of branches and staff in North America has taken by Gap. According to official position, the clothing company plans to close around 175 specialist shops in the region in the coming years.

Indeed, only this year has planned to put a padlock in 140 stores, and 250 jobs from its administrative offices. The moves are part of the recovery plan drawn up after five consecutive quarters with sales bends.

“These are difficult decisions, knowing that affect important part of workers, but we are convinced that it is necessary for a better future,” president Jeff Kirwan said. Taking these measures, the company estimates it will save approximately $ 25 million annually.
