The singing students performed Christmas classic Carol of the Bells on the packed train

These singers were caught on camera giving an extraordinary performance on board a train – but thanks to a different kind of conductor

Bob McDonough was delighted to have the Yale Glee Club from the famous US university riding on his train into New York City.

But he was even happier to see them as he ended his shift on his train back home to New Haven.

The train conductor told them he had an idea for a video, and the fun-loving students were more than happy to oblige.

But as the footage shows, Bob told them: “Hey, I’m the conductor, let me conduct.”

He then leads the professional-sounding vocalists into Christmas classic Carol of the Bells.

He later uploaded the clip to Facebook, which saw nearly half a million hits in less than 24 hours.

Bob uploaded it with the message: “Not only did I have The Yale Glee Club riding my train into NYC on Friday, but later that night they were on my train back home to New Haven.

“I told them I was a conductor, so I must conduct…and somehow they bought it .

“Did I mention they go to YALE?

“Thank you to Greg Suralik (class of ’17) and Nolan Crawford, for recording and emailing your videos to me.”

Fun: Bob McDonough leads the Yale Glee Club

Yale’s Glee Club shared Bob’s clip with a message back.

It read: “A HUGE thank you to Bob McDonough for making Saturday’s return to New Haven the best train ride the Yale Glee Club’s ever had.

“Happy Holidays from everyone at the Yale Glee Club!”

And Bob has even had an invite from a university choir from Yale’s long-standing rival Princeton.

Warren Rieutort-Louis commented: “You, sir, are a class act, this was a huge amount of fun to watch.

“You should pop over to NJTransit when the Princeton University Glee Club head out on tour in January.”
